This pot does not boil, period. it sorta heats up, but never really boils. I contacted the store, but they don’t care and won’t do a replacement. They did however, sent me a troubleshoot list, which includes ‘plug it into another electrical outlet’. In essence, this pot has a real cheap heat filament and just wouldn’t boil water. Simple as that. DO NOT BUY THIS.

After half year of use, there are obvious rust on the bottom of the pot. I guess it is where the heated coil were at. Everytime I use the pot to cook something, the build-up always form quickly at the rusty spot and then the power will cut off automatically before the food got fully cooked.
So my advice is DO NOT USE THIS POT TO COOK RAW MEAT, unless you don’t worry about getting sick.
By the way, 3 star rating is given for the pot still able to use after half year. (Did not break down)

This is still not 100% of what I am looking for – a stainless steel device that heats up my lunch to piping hot status without using the microwave and still let me wash it in the dishwasher. But this Tayama Noodle Cooker is 90% the way there! All the parts that touches your food or can drip condensations back into your food are stainless steel or glass! No unhealthy plastic anywhere to touch your food!!! I subtracted some stars from “Easy to clean” because the “pot” body is still sensitive to water getting in via the bottom. You have to be very careful in cleaning this.
If you just want to cook your instant noodles, this is it! Boil your water, add noodles, and it is done in no time!
However, if you want to heat up other less liquid food, you have to play around with this a bit to get a feel for it. Its “temperature control” is on/off. When you set the power dial to 1/3 of the way to the maximum, it turns on and off in “pulses” to perform “temperature control”. If you try to boil water at below maximum power, you will see your water boil, stop boil, wait a bit, start boiling again, and repeat. It is not like reduced heat on your kitchen’s full size electric cooking range where that can keep your water simmering.
Additionally, the heating is uneven, at least for the unit I received. Mine has this 30% arc at the bottom surface where it is hotter than the rest of the bottom surface. This cause food burning at that location if you do not stir it frequently. My work around is to add more water to my drier food to prevent my meal from burning on that 30% arc bottom surfaces. Yes, this can turn my dry fried rice leftover into more saucy fried rice lunch, but I don’t have to keep stirring the food in this pot while I wait. In the 30 minutes it takes to heat my cold lunch to piping hot, I only have to stir it a bit every 6 to 8 minutes. I use the time to work on my unfinished tasks, or check personal emails.
Other than these two drawbacks (uneven heating surface, and water sensitivity during cleaning), I will definitely buy this again. Start saving money and eating health with this by safely reheating your home cook leftover!!! This thing pays for itself in just four lunches (if the takeout is around $8 per lunch), and you get to cut down on your oil, MSG, salt, and sugar intake!

For someone only wants small sauce pan size and fast . Easy to clean and temp control precise . The watts used says 800 and that would be on high . Much less than standard electric stove . Also at 800 wats someone could put appliance plug in timer to set on and off for 15 minutes for safety or timing .
